The RMD – Multiple Container for Dispatching Radiopharmaceuticals – is a Type A, disposable packaging, suitable for transporting and storing radiopharmaceuticals, providing for dispatch over long distances, without the need to return to the production center.
It stands out for its versatility, which allows six different configurations. Can carry one, two or three EPRs – Packaging for Radiopharmaceuticals; an EPR® with dry ice; a fluorine shield; or a fluorine shield with extra lead cylinder.
The product has the Easy Open Lid, developed by Gamezi to meet the market demand for highly resistant but easy to open packaging. It allows opening and breaking the RMD® in a single operation, without the need for auxiliary tools. The system also guarantees the inviolability of the packaging and quick access to the medicine.
The internal aluminum locks are another safety device during handling and transport. In case of a fall, they prevent the medication from being exposed to the external environment. Furthermore, they are coated with electrostatic paint that allows the asepsis required in the pharmaceutical market.
The same occurs with the internal EPS (styrofoam) and EPE (foam blanket) supports with antibacterial treatment. Their functions are to position, protect radiopharmaceuticals and provide, when necessary, thermal insulation.
When transporting medicines packaged at low temperatures, a one-way relief valve allows the steam generated by dry ice to escape without, however, allowing the entry of impurities or residues from the production processes.
Quality testing and certifications
The reliability and resistance of RMD® are proven by rigorous stacking, free fall, water jets and penetration tests, carried out by the CDTN (Nuclear Technology Development Center), according to standard no. of CNEN (National Nuclear Energy Commission) .
